Try to forgive the flat bangs and tired face. It was a looong day at work.
Bought this new yellow top at the Banana Republic outlet near Carpinteria (where we spent Labor Day Weekend). I love the idea of wearing mustard yellow, but I’m not convinced yet that it’s the best color for my skin tone. Necklace was a souvenir I took home from Malawi on a college trip almost five years ago.
I didn’t at all plan this outfit to be store-themed, but that’s how it turned out.

E and I have been talking a little more about what would happen if a pastoral job came up sooner than we were planning. We’re not going anywhere soon, but we never know when it might come up.
I can’t stop thinking about how much I’m going to miss our backyard someday. Even the sad old tree stump (which I have a great plan for!), and the patchy bushes. But especially the hills and our garden and patio and firepit.
Lots of layers on top with this outfit. I attempted to alter this way too large top because I couldn’t resist the polka dots, but I botched it royally so I can only wear it underneath other layers. So the blazer returns…
tank: Banana Republic
polka dot shirt: thrifted, altered by me
blazer: LC, for Kohls
skirt: Banana Republic
tights: Target
oxford pumps: thrifted

I’m really a big fan of this sweater from Loft. I bought it after returning a different (Christmas gifted) sweater that was the wrong size. Of course, it was basically the only item not included in their 50%-off-the-entire-store sale (hate that advertising scam), but I loved it too much to leave it.
For the rest of the board meetings I brought back the pearls but layered it over a button up with a pencil skirt. Also, I feel somehow like curling my hair when I wear structure-less tops keeps the feminine allure.
top: J.Crew haberdashery (this is the best fitting dress shirt I own!)
sweater: LOFT
skirt: Banana Republic
tights: Target
shoes: Apt 9

Important people on campus today means dressing a little more business than casual this week.

About a year about I was generally dressing more formally at work—always neutrals, pencils skirts or slacks and pumps with button up shirts. After about a year here, I realized that A) no one really cared how formally I dressed [to a certain extent] B) I come across as more genuine in my job if I’m wearing things I like.

This outfit is my perfect balance of looking put together at work, without looking boring. (the shoes I’m wearing were my wedding shoes!)
