I just want to let everyone to know that I frequently re-wear outfits. And I frequently wear boring office outfits. The yellow belt was all the effort I could expend on a late morning last week. I’m over flared dress pants for the most part, but when it is all you have your closet on laundry day and putting together anything else seems like an overwhelming chore, you just go for it.

Just keepin’ it real.

Thanks to you all for making me feel better about wearing a form-fitting, bright patterned dress for the first time (seen here), and for giving me great ideas on styling it! Here is attempt #2.

Lightly inspired by this look, I wore a plain button-up, belted over the dress

And - I can’t believe I’m admitting this - I bought my first pair of spanx. I’m actually not even embarrassed. They make my a*s look amazing,  love handles smoothed out, belly rolls no more. It’s like magic.

And now I’m sorry to have made you think about my cellulite. Moving on…

I don’t have many closet orphans…I’ve actually gotten pretty good at purging my closet almost every time I buy something new. I’ve actually done quite a lot of shopping lately so I should show you some of my closet newborns sometime soon.

This is a thrifted top that seemed like a good idea at the time, but it’s too big and the sleeves are comically enormous and I think it’s time to give this closet orphan up for adoption.

Important people on campus today means dressing a little more business than casual this week.

About a year about I was generally dressing more formally at work—always neutrals, pencils skirts or slacks and pumps with button up shirts. After about a year here, I realized that A) no one really cared how formally I dressed [to a certain extent] B) I come across as more genuine in my job if I’m wearing things I like.

This outfit is my perfect balance of looking put together at work, without looking boring. (the shoes I’m wearing were my wedding shoes!)
