My hair is slightly more temperamental now that it’s as short as it is, so I celebrated my victory over it with a ruffle top and no headband/hair accessory. I also didn’t noticed my awkward belt riding up until I am looking at these pictures now.
top: J.Crew, thrifted
blazer: Kenneth Cole, thrifted
pants: The Limited
pumps: Target

top: thrifted, Banana Republic
trousers: Limited
sweater: thrifted
shoes: DSW
necklace: market in Malawi
When I was changing out of these clothes after work I caught a glimpe in the mirror and thought that somehow my green sweater had stained the tops of the shoulders, becaused they seemed kind of dark.
Then I looked closer and realized that this shirt was so threadbare, you could see my skin through the tops of the shoulders. So I figured I finally needed to face the music and retire it. Sad day for my closet.
In college it was frequently borrowed by roommates because it is the traveling pants of shirts - it fit everyone perfectly. I wore it to several job interview and school presentations, and to work in my last four jobs.
Wow, I can’t believe i’m getting emotional about a shirt. At any rate, the top will live on - thanks to RIT dye and a necklace tutorial for jersey shirts. I’ll keep you posted, but here is my first attempt at the necklace that I made with a dry-clean only shirt I ruined.

I’m a lady of few words this week. Crazy at work, and I’m gearing up for a lot of travel for the next month. Outfits have been simple and i am t.i.r.e.d.
Things I’m kind of loving lately: teal nail polish and doubling up necklaces.

Day 16: Menswear I waited to take these photos until yesterday evening so I could show off another new hair style. Click through for the photos.

Monday brought Cait and I to La Jolla, but only after I worked a half-day. So I needed to wear something work-appropriate that was easy enough for eating/shopping/site-seeing in La Jolla in the afternoon. I also wanted to repeat my remix item (the trousers) before it got too late in the challenge.
the dressy: top from BR outlet
the casual: striped cardigan, also from BR outlet
the rest
trousers: the Limited
belt: BR outlet
sandals: target
A long walk back to the car brought us to this fabulous tiled mural called “What’s your favorite color?” It was just begging to be the background for our outfit photos.
If this outfit looks familiar, you have a good memory of Day 1. [I didn’t spend hours coming up with this combo, as you can see]
Also, here’s Cait - rocking an almost identical outfit to what I wore on Saturday! GSTA. [great stylists think alike] In fairness, she packed her clothes long before I picked out what I was going to wear so she definitely wins the originality award.

Reminder: I’m participating in Freckles in April’s 21 day style challenge. We’re given a prompt and then wear our interpretation of it the following day.
Day 1: Something to Remix
I just picked up these Drew Safari trousers at The Limited for a whopping $8. (sadly, no longer available) and this was a real step-out-of-the-box moment for me. They got the eyebrow raise from E.
And I’m proud that I have my first piece that might allow me to be considered a Man Repeller. So trendy.
Anyway, this is the item I chose to remix three or four times within the challenge, because I want to figure out how to wear them a few different ways (like a legit fashion blogger - as a scarf or something.)
