Hi friends! I’m here, no promises for how long. I lost the last three months of outfit photos when our house was robbed, so I will have to start all over! Which is great, because I’ve started to lack inspiration lately, and I’m getting ready for a big Europe trip (yay!!)

My hair is slightly more temperamental now that it’s as short as it is, so I celebrated my victory over it with a ruffle top and no headband/hair accessory. I also didn’t noticed my awkward belt riding up until I am looking at these pictures now.

The skirt is clearance from Anthropologie and it instantly caught my eye. Quirky skirt I bought there (they’re kind of my usual Anthro purchase), and the colors were lovely.

I took it home and then looked it up online to see the reviews and everyone seemed to hate it and think it was unflattering. So I started to get discouraged and thought maybe I couldn’t pull it off either. (“Other people on the internet think its ugly - so should I!”)

But it turns out, I can. Because I do still love this skirt, even if I’m the only one.

A pretty print that doesn't fit, and a hair feather

This was a thrift store find from one of my trips to the midwest. It’s a handmade dress in a fun geometric print and vintage style (high-ish waist and flowy skirt) for $3.

The unfortunate thing is that is was made for someone about 6 cup sizes bigger than I, so i could only pull it off with a belted cardigan. Maybe I can work some NDAD magic and make this a little more suited to me. In the meantime, focus on my hair feather headband. I made it myself(-ish).

I wore black on black the other day. Then at work I was told I look like Audrey Hepburn as Sabrina or Twiggy (and ashamedly I had to google who that was). While I don’t think I look like either of them - I can only guess the Twiggy comparison must have been made solely on my eyeliner and haircut, because I see no further resemblance at all between she and I - and I have at least 40 pounds on her.

Look at me, channeling old Hollywood sweethearts and 60’s models without even knowing it.

Try to forgive the flat bangs and tired face. It was a looong day at work.

Bought this new yellow top at the Banana Republic outlet near Carpinteria (where we spent Labor Day Weekend). I love the idea of wearing mustard yellow, but I’m not convinced yet that it’s the best color for my skin tone. Necklace was a souvenir I took home from Malawi on a college trip almost five years ago.

I didn’t at all plan this outfit to be store-themed, but that’s how it turned out.

I really need to stop buying $20-30 shoes that won’t last more than a year, but when these are tempting me from Target’s website, how can I resist?

(A word to the wise if you buy them - I sized a half size up and still find the that the top of these shoes are pretty snug on my very normal width feet. You may want to try them on before taking them home!)

The shoes were the focal point of my very simple outfit; I love the rose and teal together!

Coloful, patterned shirts make mixing and matching so easy! My tshirt was a thrift store score and it has neon yellow, magenta, black and teal, so I just grabbed from my closet what matched it and was good to go.

A summer Saturday (this photo is from August) calls for this chevron romper and some accessories. I wish I could get away with wearing it a lot more often. You may see it again as a top underneath a skirt because I love the color so much.

I love this Old Navy dress I got a couple years ago, if for no other reason than it’s a size too big and every time I wear it someone comments on how much weight I’ve lost. (almost none by the way)

Word to the down: if you ever want an ego boost, wear clothes that are slightly too big for you. You’ll get compliments all day.

I often feel self conscious about my lack of accessorizing - I never wear bracelets or bangles, rarely wear earrings and have cut down on belts and scarves (obviously, in the summer). But this outfit feels very “me”. The lines are simple and accessories are minimal.

I love wearing classics with a touch of fun. For this one, it’s the shoes and the pocket on my sparkly t.

It’s been so long since I’ve been back here, my photo skills have obviously backslid. I somehow managed to position myself where I was completely shaded, in my ridiculously sunny backyard, go figure.

Also, while I lurve my j.crew pencil skirt, I just don’t think it was made for booties like mine. The belt does not stay - it slips up no matter how loose I leave it.

Is that enough excuses for one post? Feel free to say hi - it’s been a while! Breaks are good, and it’s good to return to normal. What have you been up to this summer?
