I wasn’t sure I was going to be able to pull this off, but with no time to change when we were leaving I went with it. I think it’s growing on me.

I’d rather not wear anything underneath this dress, but with my short torso, and the fact that we were going to visit an elderly couple, it was necessary.

Whenever I get something new, I tend to over-wear it and get sick of it too quickly. I’m hoping not to get sick of these sandals, but I did wear them three days in a row.

ps. whenever I get E to take my pictures, i make the weirdest faces!
You guys must know how sad this makes me. Before coming here I was thrilled with the prospects of finding Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Prada cast-offs tucked away. But when I brought up the concept with our host family they looked at me like I was crazy to want anyone’s cast-offs.
No thrift stores in Italy = Sad Latte.

But, I did take a little trip to some local boutiques and landed these babies

I really can’t say how much we love Venice. After our honeymoon, we didn’t feel a need to hit all the tourist stops, so we just ate gelato and explored. SO relaxing.

pre-7am, Milano Centrale station, heading to venice.

no make-up, hair unstyled, sleepy - but heading to venice!
6 hours later: much warmer, hanging out in Piazza San Marco

On the 19th, we celebrated two years of marriage.

this dress was an utterly impractical inclusion in the 30 for 30 (as was this skirt). This is probably the only time I’ll wear the dress, but it was a special occasion.

Off to teach an English class with E and then another amazing dinner with Italians — this time Neopolitan (Naples-style) pizza. It was amazing, as was the tiramisu dessert and creme de limoncello.

We have really been getting fed too well here in Milan. Day sixteen coincided with a big dinner made by a Sicilian nonna (grandma). it was raining again and I didn’t get dressed until 6pm so didn’t get any good outfit pics, but here is a little shot of E and I from dinner.

Wow. 15 days gone from home. 15 days of living out of a suitcase. 15 days of new experiences.
![]()
On the other hand, only 15 days left :-/ (at the time of posting, only 10)
this is me in protest to E’s mocking of my poses:

It was sunny. I worked outside. I finally got medicine for my cold. I wore heels.

Overall, it was a great day.

WhatIWore: With just two weeks until the What I Wore book hits shelves, I’m reaching out to you to help me spread the word.
I’ll be giving away 10 signed copies of What I Wore: Four Seasons, One Closet, Endless Recipes for Personal Style plus a personalized illustration (of…
So maybe I’m just bad at geography, but Bellagio was always a hotel in Vegas to me, I didn’t know it acually existed. Ok, I assumed it actually existed, but I didn’t know where. Turns out — it’s on Lake Como and it’s bellissimo. (for more Bellagio photos, see Latte Love)
Still on the same note - feeling sick and uninspired, I wasn’t exactly stylin’ in Bellagio, but it got the job done.

better things to come.
I can’t believe this is the twelfth day we’ve been gone (it’s actually the 16th, I’m a little behind on these posts)
![]()
Twelve days of living out of my suitcase, and being away from home.
I didn’t really like what I was wearing today, but once I put on those leggings there was no way I was taking them off (SO comfy). I’ve been feeling sick the past few days, so comfort was key.

the two above were snapped right before we went on a walk….this is when we got back (the last 4 blocks were in pouring rain!)

again, click through the first photo to get the deets on what I’m wearing.
I’m trying to convince E to take my photos again. They always turn out so much better than the timer on my point and shoot. He usually only has patience for two, so that’s what I got!

After these pics were snapped we were off to teach an English class. That’s an experience and a half!

This isn’t Day 6, but it’s the sixth outfit I’ve taken a photo of. I realized today I’m missing four days where I didn’t take a photo. Maybe I’ll recreate the looks so I can keep track.

I’m still working out the kinks of taking photos at our new place. The first few are taking from the west window at the wrong time of day, then I switched to the east window where the light hit me better.

This was the first day where I struggled to get dressed…I have less reason to look cute than I thought (especially our first week here) as I spent all day working on the computer inside while it rained outside. I’ve been wearing less makeup generally, but put some on today so I could feel normal.

E snapped these shots during a brief break from many days of rain our first week in Milan. I feel so glam in maxi dresses. But they’re also effortless and SO comfortable. Easily the best items I’ve brought on this trip!

Hey guys, guess what!
I’m 2 weeks along with a food baby. Italian food you are so bad, but so good!
(on our patio in Milan: my new OOTD photo location)
This is the second of 5 days of rainy days. Today is much better and tomorrow the cloudy rain streak should be broken. (just in time for a visit to Lake Como) Hurray!
At least I’ve gotten to try out my new raincoat![]()

I’m a week behind!
Friends met up with us on Sunday in NYC and I went for comfy chic for brunch, central park, and church.

Old Navy dress
Target leggings
Coldwater Creek eternity scarf
ON flip flops
thrifted belt
Went for an overrated frozen hot chocolate at Serendipity

Eric’s mantra for New York. Today I went with it, and it’s a good thing. We walked for almost 11 hours straight!
Started the day at Magnolia. (cupcake for breakfast? Yes, please!)

hit up lady liberty

ended it at Brooklyn Bridge. I was feeling the moment.

I am an average height I think (5’5”), but proportionately, I’m all legs. My upper body is very short.

I have the hardest time with tank tops, because what might be a normal neckline on anyone else, is incredibly low on me, regularly causing some bra peekage (ugh)
I love this tank I got for my birthday from my MIL, but the first time I wore it I spent all night tugging and adjusting and being paranoid I was showing too much.

For some shirts, I can adjust the shoulder to bring up the height a bit, so I did it this weekend with this top. It remains to be seen whether it will be enough to hold, but I’m in complete denial about wearing petite tops. I can’t do it!
