Hi friends! I’m here, no promises for how long. I lost the last three months of outfit photos when our house was robbed, so I will have to start all over! Which is great, because I’ve started to lack inspiration lately, and I’m getting ready for a big Europe trip (yay!!)
Here’s a sunny winter day outfit from a couple months back.

good hair day
My hair is slightly more temperamental now that it’s as short as it is, so I celebrated my victory over it with a ruffle top and no headband/hair accessory. I also didn’t noticed my awkward belt riding up until I am looking at these pictures now.

peer pressure
The skirt is clearance from Anthropologie and it instantly caught my eye. Quirky skirt I bought there (they’re kind of my usual Anthro purchase), and the colors were lovely.
I took it home and then looked it up online to see the reviews and everyone seemed to hate it and think it was unflattering. So I started to get discouraged and thought maybe I couldn’t pull it off either....

A pretty print that doesn't fit, and a hair...
This was a thrift store find from one of my trips to the midwest. It’s a handmade dress in a fun geometric print and vintage style (high-ish waist and flowy skirt) for $3.
The unfortunate thing is that is was made for someone about 6 cup sizes bigger than I, so i could only pull it off with a belted cardigan. Maybe I can work some NDAD magic and make this a little more suited to me. In...

black on black
I wore black on black the other day. Then at work I was told I look like Audrey Hepburn as Sabrina or Twiggy (and ashamedly I had to google who that was). While I don’t think I look like either of them - I can only guess the Twiggy comparison must have been made solely on my eyeliner and haircut, because I see no further resemblance at all between she and I - and I have at least 40...

bananas
Try to forgive the flat bangs and tired face. It was a looong day at work.
Bought this new yellow top at the Banana Republic outlet near Carpinteria (where we spent Labor Day Weekend). I love the idea of wearing mustard yellow, but I’m not convinced yet that it’s the best color for my skin tone. Necklace was a souvenir I took home from Malawi on a college trip almost five years...

Let the loafers do the talking
I really need to stop buying $20-30 shoes that won’t last more than a year, but when these are tempting me from Target’s website, how can I resist?
(A word to the wise if you buy them - I sized a half size up and still find the that the top of these shoes are pretty snug on my very normal width feet. You may want to try them on before taking them home!)
The shoes were the...

Take it easy on me
Coloful, patterned shirts make mixing and matching so easy! My tshirt was a thrift store score and it has neon yellow, magenta, black and teal, so I just grabbed from my closet what matched it and was good to go.

A summer Saturday (this photo is from August) calls for this chevron romper and some accessories. I wish I could get away with wearing it a lot more often. You may see it again as a top underneath a skirt because I love the color so much.

Every time I wear these menswear inspired cropped trousers, I feel like I need to add something a little more girly to balance it out. This necklace (which I won in a giveaway on In Pursuit of Pretty Things) does the trick.

I love this Old Navy dress I got a couple years ago, if for no other reason than it’s a size too big and every time I wear it someone comments on how much weight I’ve lost. (almost none by the way)
Word to the down: if you ever want an ego boost, wear clothes that are slightly too big for you. You’ll get compliments all day.

simple is best
I often feel self conscious about my lack of accessorizing - I never wear bracelets or bangles, rarely wear earrings and have cut down on belts and scarves (obviously, in the summer). But this outfit feels very “me”. The lines are simple and accessories are minimal.
I love wearing classics with a touch of fun. For this one, it’s the shoes and the pocket on my sparkly t.

an august return
It’s been so long since I’ve been back here, my photo skills have obviously backslid. I somehow managed to position myself where I was completely shaded, in my ridiculously sunny backyard, go figure.
Also, this outfit is lazy in that I basically just inverted what I was wearing here: http://lattestyle.tumblr.com/post/26149200030/black-and-jade

hands-in-your-pocket weekend wear: navy and red
Friday! Afternoon!
It’s been a long and unusually mentally taxing week at work. I’m so excited to enjoy the weekend and relax my brain from all the writing and editing I’ve doing of our new marketing materials.
In the meantime, here’s a pretty basic outfit I wore last weekend to the Old Globe’s Summer Shakespeare Festival that we enjoy every year with E’s...

Latte Loves Style - Color-blocking: chambray and...
This is one of my favorite ensembles for slightly-more-casual-than-usual summer work wear. Looking at these pictures now, the skirt length looks fine, but why is it that anytime a skirt sits above my knees I feel so self-conscious at work? Anyway, it’s hot everywhere in the country this week, even in lovely San Diego, so I was going for breathability.

black and jade
J.crew was the theme of my birthday, and will be of the next two outfit posts. E got me this Jade green skirt I’ve been wanting and I’m in love. It’s not as drab as a khaki, black or blue, but it’s still a total staple piece for office wear.

Last time I wore this bow was last year’s board meetings at work. I’m not sure what it is about big tweed bows, but they just feel like a good way to spruce up during long meetings.

office to evening (casual) remix
I know I’m not the only one to change out of their work clothes immediately after returning home (and dutifully taking my outfit pictures, of course). However, if I have somewhere else to go that night and can’t change straight into pj’s, I usually try to incorporate my office wear into something more casual and comfy for work. I like to think it makes me creative, but really...

boooring.
I just want to let everyone to know that I frequently re-wear outfits. And I frequently wear boring office outfits. The yellow belt was all the effort I could expend on a late morning last week. I’m over flared dress pants for the most part, but when it is all you have your closet on laundry day and putting together anything else seems like an overwhelming chore, you just go for it.

long skirt, short skirt?
I bought this skirt on our Easter trip to Tucson from a local thrift store. My intention was to take it home and hem it at the knees for a pencil skirt. But when I put it on to measure the hem, I couldn’t help but leave it as is! It’s kind of an akward length - not quite maxi and not midi. But for now, I’m rocking it as is. (Unless you guys despise! Please tell me if...
Help! Dress shopping
I’m in the market for a dress for E’s graduation and I’m feeling stuck. I haven’t been able to make myself get out and go shopping, and online shopping only gets me so far. (Plus, I frequently find things in store I’d never think to add to an online shopping cart.)
I’m looking for something colorful, knee-length or just above, with straps. Here’s a...

E and I have been talking a little more about what would happen if a pastoral job came up sooner than we were planning. We’re not going anywhere soon, but we never know when it might come up.
I can’t stop thinking about how much I’m going to miss our backyard someday. Even the sad old tree stump (which I have a great plan for!), and the patchy bushes. But especially the...

black pants and white jacket
I’m still not really sure I can get away with this tunic/legging combo. The leggings confuse me because they have a button, zipper and belt loops and they aren’t tight around the ankles. But they’re stretchy. Like stirrup pants, without the stirrups.
I guess you could call them stretch pants.

polka dots (!)
I’ve been looking for an affordable polka dot top for what feels like forever (ok, a couple of months). It never occured to me to check Forever21 when I’m shopping, but when I saw a fashion blogger link to a fun piece of jewelry, I started down a polka dotted rabbit hole that led me to this beauty. And ain’t she?

I wouldn’t have pegged myself as a double-breasted blazer girl, but I like this casual, lightweight summery version from the Lauren Conrad line at Kohls. She usually pairs blazers with flirty floral tops, but here I kept it classic with navy, red and cognac.

I picked this floral scarf up at Forever 21 and I can’t take it off. [These are all photos taken from this week!] It’s big, soft and versatile and I love the colors.

not trying hard enough
It’s been hard to get back her, depsite my growing pile of outfit photos, because of the perceived energy needed to write something along with it. I assume most of you are here to see my clothes anyway, not read my sparing, less-than-witty writing.
So, here’s some clothes that I wore a couple weeks ago, and a promise to be back again sooner rather than later.

Chambray blue and black
After six months of looking at and trying on chambray shirts that all seemed too low-quality to be worth buying, I found the perfect one! It’s from Dockers, so kind of unexpected, but it feels very durable and is a very flattering cut.
For work, I wore it under a sleeveless dress, accessorized by the necklace I won from In Pursuit of Pretty Things’ anniversary giveaway

It's Monday, and I'm a week behind
I was traveling most of last week for work and I’m still recovering, but I have a back log of outfits from the last two weeks.
I think I have a problem where I must match every item I’m wearing. For instance in this outfit I have to wear blue in at least two pieces, yellow in at least two and brown, two. So matchy-matchy!
I’m not sure why this is the case but it probably...

new hairs
I get bored with my hair so easily, I’m usually asking my patient, talented stylist to ‘try something new’ about every 8 weeks. This time she showed me how to curl my hair with my straightener, and I’ve been trying it, to varying levels of success all week. [This is right after leaving the salon - I love the vintage look of the cut!]

This dress is by far my most versatile, comfortable and perfect for all occasions. I had a big event at work this week and this was the first thing I grabbed - the thick jersey, huge pockets and perfect hemline.

casually crazy friday
Multiple layers and colors were necessary for a very blah-feeling, aren’t-I-done-yet, Friday.
It’s here! And I’m off for a weekend on my own while E is at a men’s retreat for church. The plans consist of shopping, girl’s night, a baby shower, dropping off 4 weeks of dry cleaning, and maybe, just maybe, vacuuming.

I have relatively normal length legs (and a short torso), but for some reason looking at these photos, I’m think the pants (or the heels?) make my legs look stumpy. I always thought nude heels and cropped pants are supposed to make you look 10 feet tall. (they kind of did here: http://lattestyle.tumblr.com/post/7506369243/feeling-european)

Weekend wear: casual gingham
Can you believe that I once got up at 7am on a Saturday morning and actually put myself together? Everyone at my 8am Bible Study was shocked that I’d curled my hair on a Saturday morning, but what I didn’t share is that my hair hadn’t been washed in X number of days and curling it was the only way to disguise that fact.
I love a classy, casual weekend.

peacock and pea green
A few weeks ago i tweeted this sneak peek of my latest thrift store find - here she is!
I was really excited to come across this dress in the thrift store. It’s one of those rare finds - gorgeous cut and patterns, and almost my size! I noticed a large seam rip, but it looked fixable. I got home and found one more and stitched them both up.
But this fabric has no give and is very...

purple, yellow, brown
For some reason, I have this terrible habit of buying poorly fitting pants. Chinos, dress pants, trousers (I generally do ok with jeans). Here is yet another example - these brown gap pants are slightly too short, awkwardly straight leg and are being held together by a safety pin because my butt is too big. So instead of getting rid of them, I wore a longer tank and boyfriend cardigan
